Santa HQ, a digital initiative by the Ministry of Fun and PRISM with Jimmy Wales, launched a ‘Digital Santa School’ to train Santas for virtual interactions, ensuring Christmas magic thrived digitally during the pandemic.

With the Christmas industry on shaky and ever-shifting foundations in 2020 due to COVID-19, Borkowski was once again tasked with ensuring that the magic of Christmas survived the pandemic, this time by championing technological innovation that could truly take Christmas digital.

Top Santa providers Ministry of Fun and co-founders and digital partner PRISM, teamed up with Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales to launch an interactive Christmas adventure and Santa’s Grotto, Santa HQ.

Using the enduring visual power of Father Christmas, the intense news interest in how the festive season would be impacted by COVID, and our unrivalled media network, we facilitated large-scale media access to ‘Digital Santa School’ in which Santas learned to spread yuletide joy over video call.

The story captured imaginations and hearts and received over 400 pieces of international coverage in the Guardian and I newspapers, WIRED, BBC The One Show, Virgin Radio Chris Evans and CNN International.
