Securing international news coverage for a viral sensation

KPN had scored an enormous viral hit with their campaign to warn consumers about the rise among young people of the practice of sharing intimate images and videos without consent.

Working with Dentsu Creative, pop star MEAU released an original single ‘Piece of Me’ whose contemporary electro-pop sensibilities and powerful commentary saw it shared over 33 million times on social media.

Borkowski came on board to secure a crucial item of national UK media coverage that could help build an audience for the English-language launch of the single, spark conversation around the issue, and highlight KPN’s crucial role in raising such awareness.

Leaning on our powerful media contacts, and heightened awareness of how these issues intersected with the British news agenda, we secured a spotlight interview for KPN CEO Joost Farwerckon on Sky News’ flagship business show Ian King Live. The segment included an interview on the values that informed the campaign, its viral success, and the UK premiere of the English language music video.

As well as achieving the aim of major, credible English language broadcast coverage, the international recognition received by the campaign was cited as a factor in A Piece of Me winning the 2024 Cannes Lions for Creative Strategy.
