Authentic Brands buys UK photography archive Iconic
Borkowski launched new Mayfair gallery Iconic Images into a crowded London art scene, ensuring coverage with our knack for storytelling, and inviting key contacts to upcoming gallery openings to create further buzz and highlight the value of the gallery as an events venue. We briefed journalists for features and teased future shows, with coverage in The Times secured for Iconic Images’ Hendrix Jimi art car project ahead of our targeted media push for lyricist Bernie Taupin’s first UK visual arts show – a collaboration with celebrity and royal family photographer Terry O’Neill.
Taupin and O’Neill’s Old Friends: Two Sides of the ’60s exhibition was promoted in a high-profile print exclusive Taupin interview in The Guardian, with TV and radio exclusives secured for Channel 4 News and BBC Radio 4 respectively. Taupin’s status as Elton John’s lyricist of over 50-years was enough of a draw to gain press coverage, so much of our work involved targeting the right outlets and interviewers at the right time, so that the gallery received optimal exposure and could maximise sales and attendance at the exhibition.
